How to start a website building business?

I’ve been building websites for a while now… like 10 years, haha. Just for fun of course. Nothing major. But some people have seen my work and suggested I start a website building business or some sort. How would I go about doing this? I don’t know a whole lot about servers and such but I’m a very fast learner. Could anyone give me a heads up or point me in the right direction of some information on this?

Send me a message and we can chat about it. I sell hosting packages and do web design on the side. I started my company about 2 years ago.
i suggest you use site like wikipedia, and alos check out the article on Howstuffworks.com, and well you donĀ“t actually neeed a physical server you can hire a Virtual server, just search that on google… good luck!
Firstly there is no fun in this business as it is hard work and commitment.
If you want to make money at this then you really don’t need to do anything more than what you have already done previously. exept a couple of twists!!
It is hard for me to know what you have been doing with those websites.
1 Did you have an Autoresponder setup on the websites (optin box)?
2 Did you have emails setup with the autoresponder?
3 Did you have a product you were selling on those websites.?
4 Do you have a way where people can pay you for the product on the websites?
Find a niche – find a product for that niche build a website around it and sell it!!! That is it!!!
Sounds simple but there are a couple of other things you need to do.
To sell the product to that niche you need customers.
To get customers you need an optin box on your website.
An autoresponder is linked to your optin box (html coding from your autoresponder pasted onto your website) and picks up those that sign up through your optin box and then looks after them as your new customers.
It will send out emails that you have setup with your autoresponder at interval stipulated by you.
The first email will be your confirmation to them that is was them that actually requested the information. (required by Law) This give you the required permission to send emails to them once they click on the confirmation emails. (linked back to your autoresponder)
It will also start your “LIST” of customers that have signed up to your confirmation email..
For your customers to buy the product from your website you need to set up a Paypal or Alertpay or some means for your customer to pay you for the product.(more html coding you get from whoever you want to use as your payment source)
Thats about it!!!
Look after your customers – after all they are spending money on you!!
My FREE gift to you is a 26 video course lasting about 10 minutes each and is called A Web Business Explained.

Best of luck with it

Since you have been doing it for 10 years, continue the same way: making it an official business won’t make much difference, except that you will have more expenses
Charge a reasonnable fee for the designs you do. Make your accounts. After a year, make your Profit an Loss account. If your total profit is about TWICE what you want to earn per year, you can make it a business. (Twice? Well, once “official”, the taxman will be on your back and take half of your income!)
